The anime series Jujutsu Kaisen has been nothing but a hype ride from start to finish, and fans of the show have had an Itadori Yuuji-sized hole in their hearts since the last episode of the season 1.
However, the anime world has shone its face with favor as a film for the popular anime series was announced on the official Twitter on March 26, 2021.

Jujutsu Kaisen movie release date
As if we couldn’t celebrate enough, the film, which is titled Jujutsu Kasien 0, will be released in Japan theaters in Winter 2022. That said, we predict that this may not be the case for American fans.
It’s possible the movie will be released in Japan a few months after October, which is the same month the anime first debuted, but it may not be available in the United States until a few months or so after that. Sigh.
However, don’t worry! This is merely a prediction and we may be able to watch the film sooner than expected. Fingers crossed. We’ll let you know when you get confirmation on the U.S. release date.
Jujutsu Kaisen movie synopsis
Serving as a prequel to the first season, the movie will show the backstory of the white-haired Jujutsu sorcerer, Gojo Satoru.
According to the official manga, the plot of the film is as follows:
Yuta Okkotsu is haunted by the spirit of his childhood friend Rika, who died in a traffic accident. Her spirit no longer appears as the sweet girl he called his beloved. Instead, her spirit has been cursed and she manifests as a monstrous entity who protects him against his will. […] Gojo has Yuta join Jujutsu High, where he studies with other sorcerers in training in order to control Rika in hopes of helping other people.

The film will most likely feature those who were present in Gojo Satoru’s past, which includes, but is not limited to, Gojo Satoru’s former student, Yuta Okkotsu, as well as Yuta’s peers, Maki Zenin, Panda, and Toge Inumaki.
Also, we will see Gojo’s best friend, Geto Suguru, whose appearance will play an extremely important role in the Jujutsu Kaisen series going forward.
